A Study on the Analysis of Caries Preventive Effectiveness on Occlusal Pit and Fissure Sealing

Abstract
It has been developed that preventive methods for the reduction of caries, there are dental plaque control, fluoride application, pit and fissure sealing, diet control, etc. By comparison relative distribution of caries in tooth surface, while
caries of
smooth surface type is lower, occlusal caries is higher sealants may used in community oral healty oral health programs to reduce occlusal caries incidence.
The purpose of this study was to evaluated the retention rate, percentage of caries preventive effectiveness in pit and fissure sealed group. The auther has examined the 164 sealant placed on mandibular first molar teeth of 143 school children,
between
seven and nine years of primary school children in rural area and thereafter, at 6 months interval during three years, checked sealed occlusal surface.
@ES The results were as follows:
@EN 1. The retention rate of permanent lower first molar analyzed decreasing tendency as 95.12%, 90.24%, 81.76%, 78.94%, 77.69, 72.99% by each 6 months in three years.
2. The DMFT rate of pit and fissure sealed permanent lower first molar surveyed as 3.0%, 3.9%, 14.4% per years during 3 years.
3. The caries preventive effectiveness of pit and fissure sealed teeth were measured as more than 70%.
